could be that you are using the wrong type of salt. u can't use table/cooking salt as it contains iodine. u'll need aquarium salt or those seawater mixes u see for sale at marine shops. ensure that u have an airstone bubbling vigorously as aeration will keep the eggs moving about. and try to keep the hatching container in a warm area. they hatch faster in warmer temperatures.

I think you might need to increase your aeration to keep all the eggs in suspension.
For me, I use an 1.5 litre bottle and add water with 2 tablespoons of table salt. I get bbs after about 18 hrs but I usually harvest around the 36th hour.
You might have gotten spolit eggs or eggs with a low hatch rate...

how 'big' r the bs when u harvest them?
i am thinking of hatching them for my fish too, what is a resonable price to pay for a small bottle?

rain : should cost u more than $10 per small bottle. there's several brands out there. try to get the better ones. and some batches will have low hatch rates. it's hard to explain but it just happens in some batches.

Tube about the adult ForeFinger size cost about S$4.00. I use to buy from Hougang Green Mall LFS.
I heard they need to be kep at low temp. than singapore temp. average.
So if it has been on the shelves for months, u will have low hatch rate.
CoryDorus, some brands got very low hatch rates. others got better hatch rates. i guess it all depends on the season and the location of the brine shrimp. cos got some suppliers get their brine shrimp eggs from different sources. some from china, some from the US (2 locations - salt lake city and san francisco) so far i've heard that eggs that come from the SF brine shrimp are the best. smallest in size and good hatch rates.

if u can find San Francisco Bay Brand then that's the best. apart from that, try to look for the location where the eggs were collected.

I try to turn on the air pump up but it caused some of the eggs to stuck on the top part of the bottle, which is not covered by the water.

I put 2 spoonful of eggs into the bottle, the spoon is smaller than a teaspoon...
I also dun know how big is the bbs, it is small enough to feed new born guppy fries. Bbs differs in size dependent on the locality... some areas have smaller-sized bbs.
I used to buy at $5 per bottle at Lam Hong... Now using Salt Creek Brand which has a hatch rate at around 90% or more. JBL's Artemia eggs are good too, can get at $16 at the LHS at Blk 69, Toa Payoh.

It is very normal to find eggs being pushed up... It is a bit hard to save all the eggs so have to allow some losses...
Ok it hatched. But it is so tiny and I can't use my fish net to scoop it up.

You can use those nylon coffee filters for coffee machines to harvest the shrimps... Available in some NTUCs and certain shops selling household goods.
From what i read, you can feed yeast or spirulina algae,or any very fine powder...
So how do I cultivate them after they hatch?? any hints and ideas?
