My nano setup

After quitting the hobby for a year, finally back to it again. Simply just miss the fun of growing plants and fish together. So re set-up the tank at my room.

This is a 40 x 26 x 30 cm tank. Approx 7.5 g at 90% full.
11w of lighting
Gex light green pack as substrate
fan on along with lighting ( cant slp when its on)

Is a low tech set up. the plants I try is echinodorus tenellus, crypto wendtii, rotala rotundifolia ( i thnik it is, commonly sold on wire mesh also), spiky moss,and pipewort. Some plants I accidently brought wrong. haha. but try la, see how it goes.

My rock placement seems abit weird. so... what u guys suggest?

nice setup , the rock i think abit bare that why it look weird maybe? low tech need alot of patience, i dunno about spiky moss, last time my taiwan moss without co2 need 3-4 months to see it really spreading... jiayou!


just my opinion, i think the foreground plant abit high? or maybe u get high background plants? i also dunno what to choose for my background plant

Hey moomoo! ya I was afriad of the moss actually, that it cant grow. so well.seehow it goes. I always have poor luck with it.

I will try to rearrange the foreground plants and see how it goes. thanks

Those stones seems to be too small for your tank. When the plants start to spread and grow, they will be easily hidden.

if the tank is in your room away from direct sunlight, the temp should be ok for your moss to survive i think, u got take a temperature of your tank?

hmm, I havent get a thermometer yet. Will be getting 1 soon. I rearranged my tank. Is it better? or will be better to add in wood?

hmm hmm, guys is my lighting 11w enough for my tank?

11w should be fine. Im using 12w for my nano tank as well, with hairgrass, moss, nana and javas.

i would actually up the lighting from 11w to at least 18w. 11w over a 7.5gal is rather low and may not meet the minimum light threshold. i was having problems with a 13W over my 7gal (1ft cube) previously

I still think the rocks are too low in height. Crypts when fully grown will dwarf them out

Added 12 guppies in my tank, are they endlers? also add in a small piece of java fern tie to a wood.

My tank recently been having alot of brown algae, they sort of like spot like and cover most of my plants. Hmm, is it because of the lighting? my plants are not growing much, should I use excel?
