    Hi guys,

Have not touched the camera for the longest time. So decided to do a quick session in the afternoon yesterday.

Shot with Leica 100mm f/2.8 APO Macro Elmarit R on Canon EOS 1Ds MK2 via Novoflex R-EF adaptor.

Images straight out of lens with no adjustment to color contrast and saturation. Marginally sharpened when sized down.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Here's one to see how the bokeh effect is like on this lens.

The lighting was quite good and here's an attempt at a black lit subject. Love the rim lighting!

I think the resolving power of this lens is not too bad at all..

Here's an example of an unsharpened 100% crop image of the above picture. Can still see the legs!

    Cheers,

I personally feel that the colours are more natural comparing to canon 100mm macro with a tinge of warm.

Benny, possible to shoot same subject with different lens to compare? The price of a (2nd hand) leica 100mm is almost similar to the 180L(Brand new). How not to be good.
    So who's upgrading?

Love the series, excellent! The fern shots are wonderful, top quality. Master at work!

    Cheers!

    This lens is full MF?
Don't think that the body matters.

Man behind the camera! Master at work.

If the body doesn't matter ask him to do a 1:1 exchange with yours, see if it matters.

    Thanks guys for the comments.

As the Leica 100mm f/2.8 is an APO lens, it has good edge to edge performance. As such, the fringe of the image is relative free from chromatic abberation. This being the case, you can get pretty good mileage from a full frame sensor. However, it's interesting to note that this lens only gives you 1:2 magnification, not life size magnification. Additional dedicated close up filter (ELPRO) is needed to bring it to 1:1.

When I have time, I will do a two lens comparison under controlled conditions. The flora session was just to take the lens for a spin and see the color and bokeh rendition. The JPEG straight from the camera is much richer in color. I think my colorspace workflow needs adjustment.

ho ho ho the APO-TELYT-R Module is perfect for you, one single lens set that goes from 280/2.8 to 800/5.6 (and can go to 1600mm with a 2× extender)

Reminds me of Cambell Cream of Mushroom...
First kinah Voigtlander... now a Leica.... man, the zebras better get their act together otherwise the owner cannot afford food for them!

So, you just need an adaptor to use on a Canon system, right?

*sigh* I did a few quick shots, if you understand bokeh and lusts after good ones, but don't want to break the piggy bank, STAY AWAY FROM THIS LENS!!!

later I post some shots at ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/22 so you can see the bokeh. siao liaoz!
