    Hi guys,

Just managed to get a digital cam and took shots of my 2 week old tank.

    Any advice is fully appreciated!

Many thanks to Budak for the Elatine and Rotala, Anakin and Amidala for the Glosso (which I think I didnt plant deep enough).

    Cheers,

    MetaSard

zulnaldo..it is not recommended that you get wild driftwoods or whatever wood you wanna get cause unknown critters or animals might be living in the wood and you might not notice it until it is in the tank [] ..Might leach some poisonous or toxic chemicals if not cleaned well

    Zul,

Not any old wood is suitable for a fish tank. Some will rot too fast.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

very unique layout. the vertical inclination ot the wood somehow complements the tall lines of the vals.
But the fern in the middle is not an aquatic fern - it's a forest fern (Selaginella) which will rot after a while. If you want to get a similar effect, try the Java fern or Bolbitis heteroclita (the latter rather hard to find though).

Madan, sharp eyes. Makes me wonder what's usually on your mind though. LOL

Now all the guys will be scrutinising the pictures for the girl... []

the hairgrass need to be spread out and planted, the glosso seem to be just under the lighting threshold, think they will be growing upwards instead of crawling.

its very nice, just some comments hopefully to help you keep it nice! oh and of course you need to replace the fern.

oh and the hairgrass should be behind the glosso and APP as they can be quite tall.

    hello everyone,

what plant is APP????? I was like starring at the pics and cracking my brains......frustrating.

where is the girl? does it have anything to do with the reflection in the tank glass?

Thanks for the comments guys.....next time I will be sure to position my neighbour daughter at the window before I take the pic...[]

Thanks for the tip HWCHOY. Now that you have mentioned it, I too think the HG should be behind the glosso. But alas, I think I am too lazy to rip out and re-plant. I guess I will have to be a bit more hardworking in trimming the HG...sigh....

I am hoping that the curly grass on the right hand side will grow cover the skimmer but silly plants keep on growing to the side... Must trim them and the grass at the back today to make tank look neater.

My tank specs are ehiem 2222, 2*36W for 12 hours a day, CO2 at about 0.5bps (DIY so quite inconsistent), 2 ft tank.

Is that sufficient lighting for the glosso. I have never trimmed the glosso before...maybe I should do that and replant the trimmings today too......

    Thanks again guys!

don't see the tank dimension so can't really tell if you have enough lights. however based on the look of the glosso (kind of stringy and standing upright) I would venture that they are just under the light threshold. Since this is a enw tank (with base fert I presume) they shouldn't be short of nutrient.

APP is Elatine Triandra. It's just underneath the girl...

It is the plant between the driftwood and hairgrass on the right half of the tank.

And yes the "girl" is in the reflection in the first picture. She wearing Lara Croft sunglasses.

John, well-done! sorry I couldn't drop by your place - came back from M'sia, now having camp. don't mind if I do so some other day.

    Really nice-looking layout![]
