my background is currently taiwan moss for my cherries, still thinking of wad suitable background plant to place it there. Will be making a black background to cover the back of my tank. Accidentally broke my diffuser few days ago, currently using a air stone to diffuse the co2

    light: 1 x 13w light
fan: 1 fan running 24/7 with temp range 26 to 28
    Hang on filter
Co2: pressurised at 1 bubble per 3 secs
    Substrate: ada soil
Plants: taiwan moss , flame moss, us fissiden, Anubia nana, hairgrass & 1 marimo ball

    Fish/ invertebrates:
    6 Harlequin rasbora
    2 otos
    2 sterbai cory
    1 cameron shrimp
    2 galaxy
    20+ cherry shrimps

hi, just want to find out if US fissiden require high co2? have not notice much growth for 1 week plus. Is it because i using 3 bubbles per second? Because of my shrimps, i'm afraid if too much co2 will kill them or not. Any comments will be greatly appreciated

    Fissidens are slow growers IMO.

    i see
because i was advise to use 1 bubble per second for my tank by NA after i just bought a CO2 set from them, but after trying it for a for few hours, i notice all my shrimps behaving strangely racing frantically all over the tank thus i reduce the bubble rate to 1 per 3 seconds daily for 6 hours.

Hope the fissiden will turn out well, thanks magic

1 bubble per second for a 1 ft cube could be too much, if you have a caculable KH > 4, you can derive your current co2 ppm and work towards that. If you dont, a PH drop checker will help you to indicate.

with your very low light and low requirement plants, you probably don't even need co2 as your light is limiting growth. perhaps you can consider adding 1 more 13W light?

Just leave it as it is, no need to spend more $ getting plants for background, besides you already have taiwan moss, in time you will cultivate enough of them to form a wall.

hey moomoo! nice set up over there. hmm but I think u sort of need more plants. When all the plants are mature and stable already, I bet it will look great.

Nice little set-up you got going there.

I have to admit, after seeing more and more of these little 1ft cube set-ups i'm seriously thinking of getting one. They look good concidering their size. I suppose creating and managing a scape on this scale is alot easier to cope with and get looking full & compact. Well done.

Actually this tank no need co2 pressurised, since the make up of plants is mostly low tech and will do well with just daily dose of excel.

Is the 13w light from haiyun ? I didnt see the clip on from the back of the photo.

I have 2bps for 1.5 feet tank, diffuser method, 24/7.

Ya, you can also do with non Co2. I pass my friend a small DW with fissieden last year, now it has grown so much that it's invading his 1.5 feet tank. The secret was, cold clean water. No Co2. His tank is in an aircon room. And patience.

    Cheers, Christophe

wow.. 24/7 , do you off your co2 at all at 2bps?
because i'm using a manual regulator, i only on about 5-6 hours of co2 a day as i'm afraid if my fish will die of co2 poisoning at 1 bubble per 3 second

1 bubble per 3 seconds will do fine.. IMO.. All your plantes does not required CO2 to flourish.. As for US fissidens.. They are slow glower without CO2.. Pumping with CO2 will encourage faster grow and they will definitely look nicer.. However it might also promote aglae growth as all your plants are slow growing plants.. I once have a driftwood tied with 900 plus leaves.. Initially for the first few weeks.. they don't seem to grow at all and some leaves even began to rot.. Now after a few months.. They have really grow quite a lot and the whole driftwood is now covered US fissidens..

I must say i like it, although the moss ball looks out of place. I think they're ugly if not nesteled into a small bushy plant, such as Riccia or HC, or a HG of sorts.

    Nice set-up

eh moomoo, looking at what is already in the tank, it might be worth to try putting some more of the vertical wood 'towers' with moss around the back. Might be interesting?

    thanks Verminator

icic, i hope my fissiden won't die on me, because it has been a month and some of the leaves have rot away, i'm thinking of replacing my light with a higher walt hope can improve the situation.

Ya, my moss ball look out of place haven't really found a suitable place to position it.

that moss DW is made up of flame moss which i feel doesn't look very nice, maybe will tear it down and replace with taiwan
