just replaced with a illumimax 24W light bought from mizuworld, the effect is stunning, really bright! but i wonder is it too overwhelming for my 1 ft cube, but hope my hc can grow well, anyway i shorten the light hours from 10 to 7 hours a day to prevent algae issues

Good choice! illummax lights are of solid build compared to the magnum 2 series or those china brands from y618. I bought a magnum initially but changed my mind to get a illunmax. I was very impressed with the product, slick finishing, strong fittings and stands. Even the light is bright.

Of course, I have to hand it to Ben from Mizuworld, he gave very detailed recommendation for the lights before i finally made up my mind. 2 thumb ups for great service . Rizal aka aquasynethesis was the first to try this lights with his HC setup, so i followed suit . hehehe.

Ive recently changed my 24w to a 18w osram 4pin 65k, as i am maintaining a 3w/per gallon. Although it has be disputed that this rule doesnt apply to 1FT tanks.

Sorry to go off topic abit. Do you guys pump CO2 for your tank with such high wattage lightset? I am considering getting the illummax lights together with the sleek aluminium CO2 cannister.

ya, i think they will use singpost, but for my case have to trouble Ben to come down himself. For delivery enquires, i think you can find out more on their website

i'm not really sure if pumping co2 is neccessary, but i already got a 2 litre co2 cylinder, so i'm using it. 3 sec per bubble, so far so good

Hmmmmmm? Either this is a rather old pic, or the date system on your camera is screwd up a little haha.

Your plants appear to be growing quite leggy and tall. Perhaps you should up the light wattage. This will encourage them to grow smaller and more compact. Plants tend to grow like this when light levels arent high enough. Have you concidered trimming your moss to keep it in shape? Looks like its swallowing your tank.

my office nano is runnin on 26W over a 1ft cube (2x 13W) with no co2 and there's minimal algae kept in control by 1 yamato and 1 zebra nerite. i think if you adjust your fert regime accordingly co2 isn't a must though it is beneficial

haha, ya, my camera setting is screwed up .. ya i think it grow quite tall with my previous light setting, i just upgrade my light recently, maybe will give it a trim and see how it goes my taiwan moss is growing out of hand.. i think i will clear it off.

but i slowly buy la, so wun feel the pinch so much lol

Actually it's kinda funny that out of $160... $10 goes to the actual glass tank... can definitely see you improving rapidly... keep it up

Is good to startup small, learn the fundamental first before go for the serious stuff. Of course there's disadvantage and advantage of the small tank. You get immediate result when things goes wrong, unlike big tank. But you get to remedy fast also. Less bioload is advisable for small tank and you get less problem unless you have lots of plant.

I've seen a friend with 2ft tank placed outside the corridor(is quite windy actually), no oxygen provided, no water change(just top up water), only DW and algae grow on it, inside it there's more than 100 guppies multiplying everyday. Surprisingly no casualties.

ya, it's a 2nd hand tank from a fellow hobbist in this forum too, but the condition of the tank was quite good.

wanted to try some red plant to add some colour balance to my tank but no ideas yet, like too green lol.

I used to have a 2ft tank and experienced alot of setbacks and learn more about aquascaping before i actually tried out my 1ft. It's just so interesting and fun to keep the hobby going

Hi guys, my Hg are still growing and spreading, but about 30 percent of them seems to be turning yellowish, is it a sign of dying. Quite worrying, am I lacking of liquid fert? I'm currently dosing tetra pride once a week which suppose to give iron and potassium.
