Re-started my 2ft planted tank over the long weekend.
Today bought a 6x cooling fan cos these days the weather is so warm. My tank water was 30.8 degree, the fan only managed to reduce it to 29 degree (temperature taken at 3am).

Like to check with everyone how are you guys doing regards to your water temperature.

    Hoto.

my 3 ft tank with 2 fans is boiling at 29 deg too! unless you put in a chiller, you just have to ride it out for this 2 coming months.

Chiller is the way to go. I gave up on my fans as the lowest I can achieve is 28C for the past month.

weather been bad, not only my tank is warm but my apartment as well. If there were chillers made for nano tanks, i would have gone right out to buy it. For now, im happy with my diy 9cm fans, silent and does the job right, electric bills at only 2.5w per months.

    Hi lee,

Nano chillers by artica are considered nano due to its size, not its horse power. Dolphin tem is only a tem chiller non conpressor.

Up to date this is no chiller suitable for tanks less than 20L, which is why the rest of us are using fans Its more cost efficient.

Temperatures are at 29°C at night! Have to leave the fan on. Poor fishies are all swimming near the surface.

I do seem to observe that glass tanks have higher temperatures than acrylic ones. My old acrylic tank has a maximum of around 27°C. Hmm..
    Cheers,
    Sean

I think it also depend on the surrounding temperature of the house, e.g. the tank in my parent's house (which is facing direct sun) and the tank in my house have different reading although the setup is the same.

Mine is DIYed.. but you can go to c328/y618/NA to look for very good cooling fans. Even sim lim square sells DC fans at very good prices.

If your plants are still doing fine, then do not bother too much.

I 'feel' my tank water is still cold, however, evaporation is very high. The fan must be doing its job well. 1 fan on a 4 feet tank, with 2*150watts MH lights Still doing good.

Do not get too obsessed about temperature. A fan should do the job. Unless you guys are keeping expensive CRS, or super expensive plants.

    Cheers, Christophe

6 fans! i think your water is going to evaporate super fast.

there is a limit the temperature can be brought down using fan.

if i am not wrong, 2 fans will do the job. not sure if 6fans work better
i'm ADDicted to this wonderful hobby
