A new luohan in the making? This is very disturbing news, and I think there may be more to come (as the technology become more known).

While hormone induced spawning can help ease the pressure on wild stocks, to use them to hybridise between different species (or rather genus) is alarming and bordering on the tragic.

    For those who didn't know,
    Botia almorhae (yoyo loach), http://www.loaches.com/species-index/botia-almorhae
    Chromobotia macranthus (clown loach), http://www.loaches.com/species-index...a-macracanthus

Hey, how come this look so much like the juvenile Botia Kubotai as shown in
    http://www.loaches.com/species-index/botia-kubotai

In fact, the ones that I have bought from c328 months back thinking that it is Botia Kubotai, is even more similar to the picture from PFK...

Hmm... I think that picture in the PFK article is B. almorhae, not the hybrid. Not too good with Botia loaches.

Merviso, juvenile B. kubotai actually goes through pattern changes as they grow older. In fact, a lot of Botia loaches go through this as well, including B. almorhae. If you want to be sure, try start a new thread with picture and we'll see what it is.

hi Quixotic, yes I agree with on the pattern changing and mine are still in the process of pattern changing now. However, my loach tank are now full of algae and quite difficult to get a good picture.

I do like the fish very much. They are still very much smaller compare to the Golden Zebra Loach that I had bought at the same time. Very active and playful.
