joopsg,
currently these fry are still very attached to the female. when is a good time to remove them? i see that the female is still very protective of the fry.
do i still seperate the male for now?
they grow slow but as long they can fend for themselves or forage for food. can remove them, if not they will get eaten up by the female.

yup. if the female still protective then ok.
let them be. earliest removal time should be at least a month or so.
once the female loses her protectiveness. remove the fry.
remove the male if you never keep him with the fires since.
i try not to remove the male. keep him involved in the upbringing.
no doubt some males are fries eater

You should remove the male first, wait for around 2 to 3weeks and remove the female. Raise the fries in the original tank to save trouble of removing fries instead, start to pump them with bbs and take note of their growth rate.

thanks a lot guys, if i remove them into a fry tank, what's the mortality rate like? its going to be a bare bottom tank. just filter.
zen, i'd very much like to keep them in the same tank. however i do not have much space left. so not really sure what to do with the parents if i leave them in there.

hey joel!
thanks man! lets see how many survive to adulthood![]()
Not keen on the idea of moving the fries, adult are more adaptive to change. fries are too fragile

Usually i only removed them after 3 weeks ( at least), and female with them during this period.
I don't remove them let their parents take care.. So far so good.. !st batch of fries i think around 8? 2nd batch don't know what happen. Now starting 3rd batch of fries, my female really care for her fries.. you can see anybody swims near her area, she'll chase them off.. Solid yellow dressing so sexy heheee![]()
