    Hi All,

There are different colour packaging and size of GEX soil, I would like to know which colour GEX is suitable for a 2ft low tech tank that has Fantail goldfish, yamato and leopard cory? And still able to do some mild level of planting? (since goldfish and cory may disturb the soil)

Light green GEX? Also, how many litres or kg is sufficient for the 2ft tank and how how a level of soil at least?

8 kg is enough for a 2 footer.

    Hi Ronang,

From other threads in this forum, I read about the different in particle size of the soil. So for my case, where the goldfish and cory may wack the soil, to avoid cloudiness from the frequent stir; but yet able to have plants rooted and yamato able to share the place, should I be using light green 8kg GEX pack or red pack?

Plant will be able to root under both types. But it will be easier to plant using the red pack as the grains are smaller.

Red pack gex soil have smaller grains? Most of us use green pack for smaller grains. Its called plant soil, instead of shrimp and plant soil. If you want clarification, you can compare both packs at Chans.

I,m using Gex red 'shrimp and plant' soil. Mr Chan recomand me the red one. If i'm not wrong its 9L a pack 45bucks, just nice for a 2ft tank about more than 3inch tall.
