I didn't know its 110v, but it sure looks cool and well designed. I am sure they should have 220v ones for asia market?

You can look for similar models other than ADA, such as solite, illumax etc. They are just as good. Even some models or customed DELIGHTing MH are very much cheaper and are durable.

I did brought a set back from Japan a couple of months back... the workmanship is superb and the ballast is simply 'sexy'... I've toyed with many German made light fixtures... this ADA MH is by far the best!

I have no doubt about the quality, I used ADA products for more than 10 years now, still the best money can buy. BTW, how much did you pay for your MH, which model? Is it true they only comes in 110v?

If it's 110v, we can just use an adaptor right? Any issue?

I bought mine at ADA listed price (check out their 2008 catalogue with full price list in Yen) and spent quite a bit to ship it back via express airfreight.

I am still trying to find out actually.

Here's what's written on the E-ballast. Somehow it suggest that this unit is 'universal'. What do you guys think?

It looks like it can be used universally as 110v or 200v. Have you try it out yet? I don't have the ADA book, mind if you let me know the cost of each unit? Tempted to order a few for my tanks.

I don't dare to plug in actually. Let me check the catalogue when I get back to my office later today (yes... back office to perform water change)

I think it universal. Check the local agent carry this stock.
For list price of Yen 51,450 with current exchange rate, quite reasonable if compared to Germany brand of Giemsemann MH. Next time in Japan, must remember to buy lah..

    Hi Jervis,
we have received a reply from our Japan office with regards to the voltage suitable for the light set.

According to ADA Japan, the ballast is designed for 100V and 200V power supplies. So theoretically, they are suitable for a 200V environment. I believe that this doesn't reply totally your doubts on whether it is suitable for our 220V power supply still.

We will be carrying out our own tests when our units of lights arrive in the next shipment.

It's good news if can be used with 220/240V...Currently i'm using it with a Voltage step down and the smell is very bad if left on 24/7.
