    Hi,

I'm using the ecco 2232 on my new 2ft tank for 2 weeks. Good flow rate and quite. Does not feel hot when I touch the top of the filter, so I guess the pump does not emit too much heat. Maintenance is a breeze with the self priming action. Love it

My 2236 was excellent. Used it for around 6mths before I sold it due to upgrading of tank.

My oldest Ecco 2232 is more than 2 years old. A great filter. So quite, powerful, easy to maintain & best of all, only consume 5W .

If you are staying somewhere near central, NA is a good place to shop for Eheim stuffs IMO.

Yep... I'd agree that it's a great filter but do be gentle with the pump handle when you're pumping cause it will spoil easily.

Thanks. I went to Qian Hu. Its better than sqeazng into busy HDB void deck shops and u can really take your time with many staff there to help. They are well stocked (especally Eheim and Tanks) but seem to sell a lot of there own labeled products which is the only negative point i can think of. Plus I rather enjoyed trecking all the way out there, its like an advenure!!

With all the talk on the latest Ecco models due out soon, i was looking at my Ecco 2232 and was wondering what's the water flow like in the filter?

For the Classic models, the water flows in from the bottom, going upwards and out to the tank. The Pro models works on almost the same way.

But i just can't figure that out with the Ecco, hope someone can explain.

In the ecco, water flow through the inlet at the top of the canister, downwards pass the outer side of the media tray, then upwards through the center of the media tray (passing through all the media), then finally to your tank via the outlet.

    cheers!

    Hi,

Does anyone know why is the ecco series rated as "ideal for planted tank" on their website? What's the different between ecco and pro that make them better for planted tank?

    Cheers!

The pre-filter (i.e. blue sponge) is on top instead of below. So is easier to clean just the blue sponge(when clog with large debris) without taking out the whole tray disturbing the bio media.
