    one scoop and it looks like a few hundreds of otos,
    and I got to pay $1.30 each

    Richard, they have to pack them, move them over rivers and roads, ship them over, unpack and acclimatize them and they cost only $1.30 each.

    eh which LFS sell for $1.30? I usually pay upwards from $1.5 for a small one.

    The dangers they face are tremendous. I would rather not have such dangers lurking around.

    This is how we humans kill off the fish: indiscriminate and uncontrolled collection to feed the ever greedy ornamental fish industry. One day when otos become endangered like L46, it will not be $1 per piece.

    Actually, otos spawn really fast and many farms actually breed them, hence the golden coin price. It is only in temperate countries, where they die very very fast, will they be costing anywhere from $5 to $12. We are very lucky in Singapore, we pay a golden coin and they can live indefinitely even in lousy conditions.

    Wow... imagine how many 'golden coins' that bag full of Otos will fetch???

    Anyway, they are really nice fishes to keep & watch...
