My JEBO 1m tank came with a hood too. It had 2X30W FL tube and some how I modified to to hold another 2X30W.

Do u have a fan somewhere in there? It seems like a pretty hot setup. & wat abt the 4x PLs? For the same tank?

Looks like it's sucking out hot air rather than blowing in cold air. Am i rite to say dat?

Yes, it really hot.

Sucking air out didn't do much for my tank. At the moment, 1 fan is always on and 1 more is switched on when the lights are switched on.

I've isolated 2X30W tubes. Now running at 2X30W + 2X36W.

Update...up to 3am this morning, I've managed to rip out the internal filter system. Now i have a full 2-ft tank. Did it using a very long knife to cut the black glue-like thingy. Now all i have to do is get a razor blade to clear the remaining black glue/silicon fr the glass. So far glass not damaged. Me happy man...

have toyed with the idea of ripping out the internal filter (wasn't that great anyway) but it is glued to the glass and I'm not sure if it can be accomplished without damaging the glass.

Also due to the height (or the lack thereof) of the internal filter compartment you can't fill the water very high so effectively I am getting 30cm water depth for a 36cm tank. For a planted tank it is ideal to have a bit more height and width. 30cm width is quite limited in terms of landscaping for fore and background. I would have preferred a size of 90x45x45.

If you try to rip out the internal compartment, let me know!

nizz, u mean yr 2ft came wif a internal filter? and u ripped it out? []

Took less than half hr to do it. Key thing is to get a very long knife & start fr the top & slice thru'. U don have to cut all the way. 1/3 way down on all the parts stuck to the glass, u can slowly try to peel the thing away...if can't keep trying to slice further down. After dat can use razor blade to remove the black glue/silicon.

All the best (esp wif ur wife) if u r gonna attempt it.

I'm gonna be using the eheim 2006 temporarily, then prob move on to an external filter. Eheim 2222 or something like dat.

It was taking up plant space, & wasn't dat fantastic to start wif as a filter.

I was visiting the Eheim website earlier and also looked at the 2222. Is this part of the Professional II series? What about the Eheim Ecco 2231?

Another important question I have is this: my lights are straddling the top of the tank with very little clearance (2cm). Would I be able to get the hoses out through that. Incidentally, how does water inlet (the part that's in the water) for external cannisters look like? Anyone have a pic?
