yellow? Chlorosis (nitrogen deficiency)?
What's your fert regime?
I find that Elatine is very nutrient greedy.
hi all.. i think abt 2 weeks back i trimmed my elatine till its almost botak.. previously it grew very nicely with bright green leaves...
but now as the plant attempt to grow back its leaves.. i discovered that some of them are pale yellow..
did i trim too much that day? or is my plant lacking of a particular nutrient? currently most of the plants are bubbling.. but tank infested with snails though..
had added SERA liq. fert only yesterday for the first time..
wat can i do now to help my elatine recover?
and also how do i get rid of my snail infestion... cannot tahan them already.. everyday pick more than 30 pieces.. and still no effect... []

What do you fertilise your tank with? other parameters (light, fish, other plants, age)?
i never add any fert.. until yesterday added SERA liq. fert..----------------

size: 75 X 38 X 40cm
lighting: 3X36W
no fish only ottos and shrimps
abt 2 months old
base fert: hexa root grow 7-8cm
Morph,
take a look at this list and see which fits closest....

Personally I think your best bet is to try dosing a bit of KNO3 to see if that helps.
Allen
IMO, you can try some K first. It is usually the one that is deficient, unless you have extremely low bioload that you have N deficiency. Sera should take care of any trace deficiency.

normally, yellow elatine = old leaves, I toss it away, take a fresh cutting and plant.
Hi Marcus, I thought chlorosis is caused by iron deficiency?----------------

in that case shld i replant all of my elatine?? have quite alot of them in my foreground.. but that will slove my problem i will do it----------------

Read this thread.
IME, APP suffers first in a low N tank.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
ime =? in my expert opinion?
lol
That's in my experience lah ....LOL []

In my 2.5ft tank, the APP also a little yellow at the growing tips. Also notice the Frogbits yellowing too.
My NO3 is high like about 40ppm.
PO4 is lower at 0.5ppm.
Dose 30ppm K per week.
My tank certainly not N limited. But is it really P limited? Since the PO4 is measurable at about 0.5ppm, and not zero, whenever I test.
Shd I dose more PO4?

KF,
Considered Fe, Mg or Ca?

Oh yah, spotted a short(H) tank at BioPlast last night that has very healthy looking ET. At least 2 to 4 inches thick, but I can't spot any yellowing/rot at the lower layers.

Magnesium can be dosed with magnesium sulfate from Dr Mallick...but how about calcium? KF..the use of coral chips might be an option but hard to control imo.

Peter,
Flourish Equilibrium for Ca and Mg (and K too).

Morph,
Maybe you can add in a few more fishes to up you N.
Fe shouldn't be a problem because I dosed Dr Mallick's Trace elements daily. I also added Mg via Epsom Salts. For past month or so, I notice stunted growth at leaf tips of APP and several other plants. So recently I added coral chips to my filter. And over the last one week, I saw improved growth for my APP. Leaves are bigger. So I presume my tank was deficient in Ca. Now I notice some yellowing. And trying to find out what's lacking again.----------------
