Fluval 404

Can anyone comment on this external filter - Fluval 404. Someone is selling at $120 for6 months old. What is the quality of this filter? Any comments appreciated.

Fluval, not bad........powerful and quiet. The bad point is cannot get spare part @ all when the spindle break. I try getting from overseas but they send me wrong part. In the end, I dump it into the dustbin.........Get either eheim or atman. Atman is using eheim spare parts. Eheim is the best I have used so far, great!! but expensive.

Is Atman made in China? Anyone out there has use this filter? Any comment on these filter? I saw the model as 3338 and EFH-4, which is suitable for 5'x2' tank?

I am trying to buy alternative to Ehiem since it is so expensive. For one Ehiem say 2028, I can buy 2 of other brand filter.

Any other brand good next to Ehiem?

I am personally using atman. It is made in China but I find the filter powerful and reasonable quiet. It depends on your budget. For me, I do not wish to spend a lot of money on a simple filter. Atman cost 1/2 the price compare to eheim so I find quite worth.

There is also other brand like Diamond, made in Taiwan. NOt bad also. Pricing comparable to atman, maybe 10 - 15% higher

Tetra..try atman...much cheaper I think...or you can try to find if other forumers are upgrading and are willing to sell their filters.

I am using a 2nd hand atman 3336 (I think the flow rate is 800L/h)for my 2.5ft planted,the rain bar help to reduce the current. it was amost a year old sine the 1st owner. The filter serve the purpose. So far so good. *touch wood*

Looks like no one is selling 2nd hand filter, which means I have to buy new filter.

I am currently deciding on either Atman 3338 or Eheim 2228. Can anyone recommend which LFS should I get either this filter for a reasonable price, if you have shopped around and compare prices. Appreciate if you can share with me, and others!

Atman 3338 should cost around S$140, Eheim 2228 should cost around $280+...Hopefully my memory is working. Try Petmart @ serangoon or Clementi 328 (Clementi dunno got atman or not but I am sure petmart has)..

fluval distributor is some shop in amk ind park 2, if i remember correctly
i don't recommend the fluval series
it is a lot noisier than eheim and breaks down easily
