Hi all,
My tank layout started on 02/05/2008





After 1 month.
















Having difficultly trying to keep the masilea short.
3x24w lights - invite Green Spot Algae
2x24w lights - Masilea grows tall

Any ideas to keep Masilea short? Add more lights?

maybe you try 3x24w but shorter hours

Maybe they heavn't transform yet, it will grow only one leave and will creep low. Somehow looks like glosso but only one bigger leave.

I am having 2 x 36W PL on my 3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft tank and they creep well. But all transformed to single leave.

No idea bro, mine straight away start to creep once I grow them in water. As they are all cultivate emerge. But I pefer to have clover leave like yours rather than only single leave.

Was looking at the scape and thought would it be nice if you have 2 times the about of rocks you currently have, including bigger ones? That would redefine the usual rock scape we see

I wanted to add maybe 1 or 2 bigger rocks but I am very worried that the tank will break in the bottom.....
That is why I didn't put in more........

You'd be very surprised how much commercial tanks can take now in terms of weight. Its not the tank you want to worry about. Obviously ludicrous weights will cause too much stress but a tank this size should be easily able to take plenty more rocks than this. Look at marine tanks, and lake malawi and tanganikan (spelt wrong i know) rock tanks. They have loads more rock weight.

If a tank is upstairs or above another apartment thats the weight you need to watch more than anything else.

More rocks in your tank should be fine, and would certainly look better as a rock scape.

I have to mention that my tank is not those flat base that sits in the cabinet. (ADA or similar type)
Mine is those with black corners that goes around the top and bottom. If I am not wrong, the base is not 100% sitting on top of the cabinet, that is why I dare not place more rocks.

That sounds like a very unusual tank then. Never heard of anything like that before. I always assumed every tank sat flat on its base for safety. Seems bizarre they would actually invent one that does not sit flat, especially seeing as the weight of water is ridiculously heavy anyway
