    Hi AQ members,

Im looking for these whisker shrimps,

The actual name is Macrobrachium lanchesteri.

Went to a few LFS and most of them sells yamato, red bee shrimps..

I got a picture sample of the whisker shrimps from the net.

It looks like the normal ghost shrimps where LFS sells them as feeders.

hmm i dont think so.. the nose + whiskers are much longer compared to ghost shrimps.. And the body is much slimmer as well.

    Thanks for your input guys!

The ghost shrimps do appear very smiliar as the Macrobrachium lanchesteri shrimps.

From what i know, the shrimp that i am looking for, has these small front claws and long whiskers. Has green eggs. I think it can eat your fishes, as the small fishes in my tank kept disappearing.

After viewing some shrimp forums, i found that Macrobrachium lanchesteri shrimps are sometimes mistaken for ghost/glass shrimp.

Will appreciate more info, if you have more knowledge or experience coming across these shrimps. Any LFS to recommend to look for these shrimps?

    Thanks!

The problem is that most of the juveniles of Macrobrachium species look very similar. In any case, if you are patient enough, maybe you can try rearing the feeder shrimps and see if they turn out to be M. lanchesteri.

P.S. wakegrass, since you are using someone's picture, it is only polite that you indicate the source of reference.
