    Old Setup:

    1 low tech tube, on 7am-9pm
    CO2 1 bubble per second, 24 hours a day.
    KH = 5, PH = 6.8 to 7.
    had to maintain air pump of fishes show lack of O2.

    New Setup:
    2xT5 total 78W. on at 7am, off at 9pm.
    Solenoid to CO2, 1 bubble per second on at 7am, off at 9pm.
    KH = 7, PH = 7-7.4
    Air pump no longer need to switch on.

    Tank is standard 3ft.
    ====
    I tired 1 bubble /s on day 1.. PH rises
    increase to 2 bps on day 2.. PH rises more

    I was advise by an experienced guy to keep doing this, increasing gradually everyday. I agree to that, but I fear the fate of my fishes if I can't stop the rising PH soon enough.

    I hope to gather some stats from seniors here, to speed up identifying my tank's magic bubble count.

    Can anyone advise what is the rate you set? Or a number count where you would start at, and I will gradually "tune" from that value.

    Thanks.

    Use drop checker? although it is slow in response but more accurate

    What is your substrate/gravel/soil?

    For a start... your photosynthesis period of 14 hours is too long... any chance your pH tester is not accurate?

    This is funny... in normal circumstances... the more CO2 you pump into the tank... the lower the pH will get (that's how Calcium Reactor works in a marine setup)... What substrate are you using? Are you using any stone/rock for your scaping?

    the pH of my tank fluctuates between 6.8 to 7.3 and my tank is fine. Livestock live perfectly well in it for over 3 years now. Only fish that couldnt survive in it for me has been my German Blue Ram Cichlids which died off.

    Certainly reduce your photosynthesis period. I had 14 hours when i first started and gradually over the last year or two i've reduced it down to 8 hours. Since doing this my plants have flourished and algae growth has significantly reduced and is since under control.

    Certain soils can leech into your water chemistry over the first month or two when new. This should falter after time. Question is: What soil do you use and how new is it?

    Nothing is new in the tank except the upgraded lights and the solenoid. So essentially, the light intensity increased, and co2 is reduced by half (over 24 hours).

    it is better today, i increased the rate from 2 to 5 bps, and i started seeing the co2 dropper moving away from dark blue. So i guess the magic number is either 3 or 4.

    Oh tank has been stable for more than 6 mths, sand been used for more than 1 year. That is before i change the manual regulator to a solenoid and upgraded the lights
