I supposed you've place the mirror outside the tank? Looks like natural flaring.

ya i place the mirror outside of the tank at the side.
Wondering if i force it to flare more often, will it induce more/better colouration ? haha

Yes he will gain better colouration.... but only until you remove the mirror.

Very nice flaring photo!. Its growing and colouring up nicely. I notice the interesting red patterns on the lower part of the anal fin and its absence from the non flaring picture.

Once again, another quality apisto sold by our LFS.

Thanks, actually i got some questions. Your avatar the black background is it photoshop ?
As the apistogramma flares, the body tends to sways and it is not parrallel to the lens, so part of the body is not focus. Will increasing the aperature eg. F2.8 to F8.0 make it focus from head to tail ?

    Hope someone can enlighten me.

The black background is not photoshop. A fast aperture speed will create a darken background. Shooting the fish with a black background helps too.

Setting the F setting from F2.8 to F8 will create a deeper depth of field but the more important points to take note when getting the whole fish in focus is that you must be parallel to the glass and the fish must be parallel to you.

The female had turned yellow and start to chase the male away.
and during water change , i discover she had laid some eggs under the driftwood. The eggs are red in colour but had fungus on them already. She is still guarding the eggs thou.
Anyone can advise how to see if the male had fertiliser the eggs ?

Unfertilized eggs will usually fall off after sometime. The mother fish should be cleaning and fanning the eggs to prevent them from growing fungus. Those eggs affected by the fungus should be a goner.
