It can grow to quite a big size, i think around 15-20cm as well. I think the name is tinfoil barb. Not very good in planted in initial stage. They like to nib at plants.

    Got it from seaview.

Thank for the info, will pop by seaview when free.
Inspired by your layout and always want to setup a similar one, found this while doing research, just to share with you.

Since he like to nib at your plants, do you consider to sell it cheap or give away?

nopes, I like that fish too much to sell. Had 8 of them in all, but due to certain circumstances, lost 7.

They do eat shrimps as well.

Yes, these were my addition today. Solite brand, clip on (or clamp on) model, 150 watts, 6500k.
The clip on really make it a nice feature. Can you it on 3 ir 5 feet if I change tank one day.

Another reason for MH lights is now I have no limitation on the type of plants I can put in. Previously I think I would have a hard time growing glosso, HC or APP, etc etc. With these lights, I can try all my design, if I have a good back doctor, or a good massage

No chiller! Just one fan. I have no place to put a chiller. And having a chiller connected to filter is so troublesome for me. I used to have a chiller a few years ago.

I believe temperature will not increase that much. They are quite a distance from the tank, about 1 feet. Read before temperature will not increase that much on a thread, maybe by Goodoo (cannot remember). The fan will help bring it down, but then again it will certainly translate into more evaporation. Guess water top up will be about 3-5 litres a day.

    Cheers, Christophe

Power double MHs and congrats on your new toys! The tank is certainly brighter than previously posted. Initially your eyes may feel hurt if you look at your tank too long but will get used to it

Why not invest in another fan to blow the other MH

And I'm sure the shimmering effect is priceless

And if the brightness of the MH does hurt your eyes you can change the bulb to ADA Green Bulb I saw one planted tank in Aquaforest (Tokyo) using the green bulb... it's so soothing to the eyes... love it!

Another poison! But it is close to S$200 for a bulb!

$200 bulb... hmm not at the moment.

I may invest in another fan, if I see the temperature rising.

I kind have a good feeling for this tank. Hoping now the E.tenellus spread faster than they are being uprooted

    Cheers, Christophe

A lot of my E.tenellus has been uprooted. But, waiting impatiently for those that are still in the substrate to spread.

New leaves are coming out as 'red leaves', also indicating the strong lighting.

Changing concept a little bit, because I am unable to get a nice lawn of E.tennelus. Most of them being uprooted, and those that are left have their leaves being nibbed.

But my red lotus, crypts and java ferns are doing well.

So introduced yesterday a lot of stem plants at the two sides. trying to get hold of stem plants, because in the past I had some issues with getting them grow in the right 'shape'. Meaning equal distance between the leaves (on the vertical)

Will post a picture tonight. I will need help to ID the plants

    Cheers, Christophe

Hey, looking really good now with the 2 MH! Your plants would definitely loves it. The fan seems like blocking the left side causing darkness there, centre would be a good location for the fan.
