    I am setting up a 8" cube planted tank, do I need CO2 or even a Pump?

    co2 not necessary unless you intent to keep some specific plants like eriocaulon sp, or if you want more robust and faster growth; Or if your lighting is in the high range, than co2 is necessary or algae will bloom..

    Yes you do need some form of water circulation... be it with pump or airpump

    one more question for the expert, what like should I use for this size of tank? like to try LEDs. Please advise.

    You could use those clip on lights. Most of them are using around 9 watts bulb. Should be more than sufficient for you cube. Maybe include a small hang on type of filter.

    If you want to go low tech, means no co2 and low light, mosses tied on twigs and nanas would be nice.

    Have fun. And don't forget a couple of nano fishes.
