Chit Chat is a form of DISCUSSION...

Perhaps it is but not in relation to what the thread title was initially about. People go to your thread to read about what the title suggest. Not to read about random chit chat. Imagine going to a thread to read about BBA..but then there are pages upon pages that relate to "who is that girl in your avatar", "how much your plants are", "where you got your plants from" and totally nothing substantial about BBA.. that is a ridiculous thread and not condoned here.

There are other locally based aquatic forums where there is so much chit chat that when you try searching for information you end up with 10s of pages of one-liners.

If you posted something like 'Help, my fish jumped. I got him back in the tank, but he lost some scales and is swimming upside down. What can I do to help it heal?' You end up with lots of one-liners like 'sorry to hear about your fish, hope it gets well soon.'
