Tank rescaped need comment

Hi to all,

This is the first time i scape for my tank please do give some comment on how to improve my skill.

This is a 2ft tank of 60x30x30cm.
Also can help to ID the two plant in the second picture. The one plant on the right has pink leaf under it.

That's a Barclaya Longifolia aka Orchard Lily and they will grow huge in no time to cover that little corner of your tank.

hi insider, I guess the first thing you could do is maybe to add a solid colored background to the back of the tank to bring out colors of your plants. Second, i feel that if the tank is to be viewed from the front as in your picture, the moss wall on the left should be removed. On the whole, the layout now is quite a mishmash and the hardscapes are out of place, making the 2 footer look pretty cramped. If i'm not wrong in time the stem plants will grow pretty fast and swarm the tank.

Off hand i think you might want bunch up your stem plants to the sides leaving some room in the middle for your wood to stand out. Perhaps even group the hardscapes together? It might be worth looking around in the forum to understand certain methods of composition and layout. cheers

By the way why do you cover your siilter output with sponge?

Thanks burnz for your comment will try to do some changes to the tank.

The output i covered it with sponge cause the flow of the water is very strong that create a very strong current inside the tank so covering some hole of the rainpipe help to reduce the strong current.

Its so difficult to find some good peritried wood and good stone.

Don't give up hope... how about stop looking for them... they will suddenly appear the next time you visit a LFS

I usually buy them together, go LFS pick a nice wood, look for matching stones, arrange them on the spot. Looks weird, find another stone in the box. This process to give me an idea how the hardscapes go together. After that i look for matching plants. Thats one way to go about it.

Where is the best place to get a nice driftwood for a cheap price?

Get your idea together first. Checkout the sticky for inspiration and ascertain what layout you really want. Then go shopping!

By then you would probably be more focused in hunting for the right the size and shape of wood and rocks. And also the type of plants.
