Hi all, am thinking of converting my 6'x2.5'x2' tank into a planted tank. Looking at low maintenance plants, and probably will only tie them to those branchy woods with a thin substrate. Thinking of ferns of different types for variety, plus some nanas tied to front bottom of wood mainly. I particularly like the look of Bengy's tank..

As for fish, toying with the idea of altums, apistos, cories and cardinal tetras. How does the idea sound? Do you think it's possible to go without CO2? Any ideas and tips appreciated. Thanks!

    Hey Jay!!

Thinking of going towards the 'hassle free', low maintenance type of set up huh?

Do you have the wood already? Or are you going to be shopping for them? As for ferns, I think there are two to three types you can choose from, or use a mixture of them.

As for Anubias spp., you can also choose to mix a few species as well, Anubias barteri and it's 'nana' variant will give you a good spread of sizes to work with. Since your tank is so big, you might even consider a bit of Anubias lanceolata as well.

Why don't you come by my place and have a look. My lazy man's tank might be of some use to you as a reference on what not to do!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I think most of us were getting excited and thought of seeing some 'New' aquascaping 'ideas' when we see the thread title. But...
