Hi, I've got some malayan shrimplets (abt 10+ <10mm) from a fellow forumer... and they're currently residing in my 1 ft nano planted tank.

I'm wondering whether I should feed them with algae wafer or just leave them to scavenge on the invisible algaes and/or leftover fish food (tetra bits)?
Can they survive by just eating all the these?

    Appreciate any advises...

I feed my yamano & malayan shrimps algae wafers once every alternate days & they seem pretty healthy. They are very effective scavengers i believe.

Mine likes to eat hikari lionhead sinking pellets!

It prefers that one to algae wafers, don't know why.

Hi guys... thanks for the recommendation.
Probably I'll try to feed them small pieces of algae wafer... just to make sure I don't dirty the water. They are good at hiding... can only see one or 2 before light off

Me too... did purposely feed them anything because they are usually no where to be seen

Only on rare occasion that they will venture out to the open... and scavenage for leftovers that sink to the bottom

Hi, I have a 2 ft tank, 1/2 of the tank filled with Taiwan moss and inside the mosses, I believe I have hundreds of Malayan shrimps and I do not feed them with anything.

It has been in this condition for 3 years, I have about 20+ guppies and tetras in the same tank, but my Malayan shrimps population seems remain the same.

Do you mean that you didn't feed your fishes as well?

Yes, I do feed my fishes with fish food, but the Malayan shrimps seems to know how to avoid to get eaten and hide in thick moss forest...
