Last weekend, my outdoor friends & I went to explore a quarry site that we never visited before. When we reached there, we're shocked to find out that almost the whole limestone hill is going to destroy by quarry activity.
That day was an off day, so we're allowed to explore the summit of that limestone hill.

It's dangerous to explore in the quarry site...we need to watch out for the loose stones:
The homeland of Nepenthes northiana:
Nepenthes northiana found at open area; we have no idea how long this plant can survive because the whole hill will be gone, sooner or later:

less than 2% of N. northiana found growing in the shady area. Most of them either do not have pitcher or only have less than 2 smaller pitchers (compared to those in open area):
Bonus of the day: this is a 2nd (new) location for a natural cross hybrid of pitcher plant called Nepenthes x cincta. It is a cross in between N. northiana & N. albomarginata.

Amazing journey into the wild... we've known these plants from science classes... but seeing them in their natural habitat is simply awesome! Thanks for broadening my horizon![]()

Is there any possibility of relocating those pitches in the affected areas? Would be such a pity to have them wasted due to the quarrying activities.

Removing is illegal, but yet, it is "legal" for the owner to destroy the plants during the quarry activity. This is our stupid law.
