the most effective way to combat nitrate is to do water changes. also, u might want to consider the bio-load that u have inside your tank.. usually, they are the the main cause of the high nitrate readings. otherwise, u can consider getting a refugium and put all the macroalgae.
yes, all living stuff, regardless of fishes, corals... they all produce nitrate although corals produce very small amt of it as compared to fishes.

What's the most effective way of controlling Nitrate levels? I have been able to keep NO2 and NH3 down to 0 but my NO3 level is still high at 25 ppm!
