    Hi,

Just saw new batch wood shrimps at Gen X. They are about 10 to 15 cm long each. Really huge and fat. Biggest I've ever seen in LFS so far. Still unstable and should be ready for sale in 3 days says the shop owner.

They are in the last middle row tank on the left side of the shop. The one with the nice christmas moss. Check it out!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Yeah... that's where I saw the biggest wood shrimp about 1/2 year ago. Some even have algae clinging to the shells.

On the topic of woodshrimps, I was wondering anyone here have successfully kept these shrimps in a planted tank for an extended period of time. I for one have never been able to keep them for more than 1 or 2 months, possibly due to the lack of food (microscopic zooplankton) in my tank.

    Maybe not...

Sometimes I see my wood shrimp scavenging the gravel for food. I guess they do not merely rely on micro organisms in the water. However 1 of my shrimp have been camping at the filter outlet for almost a week without leaving that position.

I recently bought 2 for my tank, and I'm not sure if they'll survive... However, they seem to be happily moving their furry hands in and out of their mouth... So I'm assuming there is something caught in those filters of theirs to eat.

    Hi BC,

Are there any good places in Seletar farmway? Exactly where did you see the wood shrimps there?

Pisces Tropical Pte Ltd has quite big ones when I was there about 3 weeks ago. The address is 8, Seletar West Farmway 1 (off Jalan Kayu).

To me they look like a big grasshopper or roaches.. The detail-sight of them scare the hell outta me.. That's why I didn't buy. Even now, the thought of them send shivers down my spine... better end this posting now..

    and he kerchiangs
    i will feel dammmmnnnn pekchek
when something grows that big it's a lot of emotional attachment
it's more like a pet like a dog or a cat instead of just being a shrimp
    you know what i'm saying?

Yes, Pisces was the place at Seletar.

I have mine for coming to 2 months. Still quite healthy. I shall keep a close eyes on them.

My previous batch which I kept for about 3 months was killed when I added medication... at that time didn't know that shrimps are super sensitive to medications.

    Hi,

I have 4 wood shrimps (5 cm only) for about 2 months now. So far so good. Have been dumping all kinds of medication and fert in to the tank without problems. Only Malayan and Yamato dies.

By the way, anything good at the Seletar Farms? Prices good or interesting selection?

    Cheers,
