    Easiest Sulawesi shrimp?

Has anyone had success keeping these shrimps...alive (within this forum)? I am not even contemplating breeding them.

I had, in a realistic estimation, blew around $600 on these since it was introduced. Had difficulty keeping them. I know the requirements etc. and my tanks are very matured. But these things drop like flies. The longest I had kept them is one month (until I did 50% water change)

Yesterday, I bought 2 Tiwot? Beauty to join my 3 Mantano Blue Dot and was conditioning them in a plastic tub. I thought one of them looked promising, looks red. Hell, around 5 minutes later, went to check on it, and it had keeled over.

This morning, I saw one of my Mantano Blue Dot floating, can't make it.

So I would like to know any AQer manage to keep them and rate from easiest to difficult. I think I will give up keeping them if this batch dies.

    Here's mine:

    Easiest – Mantano Blue Dot
    Difficult – The rest

I don't keep them myself, but a good friend of mine has successfully maintained his Matano Blue Dot for some time now.

Could there be something wrong with the water? Any other flora/fauna in the tanks? That friend of mine tries his best to minimise water changes, just top-up and 10% water change at most.. they're apparently extremely sensitive to changes in water chemistry.

My best record was more than a month. I even did a 80% WC, no problem at all. My failure was due to the wrong mix of pH, gH & kH, out by slightly.

Currently, still have 3 Beauty in my tank.

I don't if its something wrong with the water, but I doubt so. The ph measure few days ago was 7 to 7.5, temperature-wise is roughly 28 to 29.

My green shrimps even manage to breed in there.

I just think these are the most difficult critters I had ever encountered.

I think pH range should not be too wide. You may want to increase your kH and stop CO2 injection (if any)

I have 2 dedicated tanks for them, the blue dots... I have them since Jan this year.. got 10 of them still have around 6 in the tank plus their offsprings.

The other one, i cycled for a month before introducing 20 of the blue dots, after 3 weeks, I lost 3 of them.

Both tanks have a PH of 8.2 and TDS of 300+

The rest they die off whenever there is any change in water parameters. I guess the key to keeping them alive is PH > 7 and really really stable water parameter.

    Avoid large water changes!

yes. Confirm they are very very sensitive to water change. I have been keeping 10 of them for 4 weeks. Just try to change 10% water last week, now only 1 left

Mantano Blue Dot is the easiest, IMO, after overcoming the initial death which spans over a few months, the death within the first few weeks was high which I think is due to poor handling before my hands, then they start to breed. I have F2 now, I am seeing shrimplet appearing from time to time and gravid ones appear from time to time. The tank bred offsprings are strong and can withstand tank shifting.

A Spain friend of mine has success Matano Black Tiger, he has F2 too. He may post his pic soon in this forum.
