    Hi all,

I just broght this Apisto. Would appreciate if anyone could help me id it. It was stated as Apistogramma Agassizii 'Tefe' Wild. Please help to identify if it's not true. Do you all think it is Apistogramma Agassizii 'Net/Netz' instead?? I really hope to get the type right.

Thanks for your time. Sorry for the poor photo attached.

    Warmest Regards
    Desmond

Looks like a tefe, can't tell if it's wild caught though or which region.

    Hi,

this is Heiko Bleher, just back from another expedition., lectures and seminars (8 i Romania and 2 in Poland) anmd the giant Interzoo 2008 Biotope exhibition I made, all to see at my website: www.aquapress-bleher.com

But I saw this thread and the Apistogramma is definitely a A. agassizi, but hardly from Tefe. This is a very wide spread species in Central Amazonia. Look also at the one I collected recently, under New Apistogrammas at my Latest News. (And a beauty under Special Events Peter Guennel)

    Always

    Hi Bro Illumnae,

I brought this from Biotope about 3 weeks ago. It state the name on the tank as Apistogramma Agassizii 'Tefe' WILD but when I look through the internet. I got confused over the picture vs mine. Should I or should I That's why I posted to check with the experts here.

    Hi Bro Heiko Bleher,

    Thanks for your ID. Appreciate.

    Regards

yup it's probably from the same batch that i got mine from a few months back. looks like mine wasn't a contaminant like i thought but a whole batch of wrongly labelled ones It was ided by Mike Wise (one of the leading apisto experts on apistogramma.com) as Ap. agassizii "Nets" and like Heiko, he stated it had a wide locality range.

We apologize for the confusing ID. Some of the hobbyists here such as bro Illumae who has been following up on our stocks would have seen that when the last stocks arrive, they could hardly be sexed. They were so young.

It was only after a while when these fish grew that the colours appear, showing signs for proper ID. However, these ID were given by our suppliers at the point of shipment and hence we had allowed ourselves to be mislead too, taking the descriptions wholesale.

We appreciate for your kind comments and information on the ID.

    Thank you.
