Hi, I noticed some of my newly-bought (1 week) rummynoses losing colours on their bodies. There suddenly appear to have patches of white developing over the body. It's not a slimy film, neither is it a skin parasite. Just discoloration. Fishes affected often loses appetitite and weakens generally. Does anyone know about this? Thanks. []

or do their bodies just look a bit more 'translucent'? noticed rummynoses that didn't feel well, will also loose some of their body colour.

    i like my rummynoses:
    - red heads
    - distinct black/white caudal fins
    - solid coloured body, like grey-green, not really translucent.

just my thoughts thru my observation of these pretty fish!
    P-L-E-C-O-R-Y=M-A-N-I-A!!! YEAH!

It is also know that if the condition is not suitable for the Rummynoses to stay in, they will also lose their coloration. That why some people like to keep them with fishes sensitive to harmful elements like nitrate, or ammonia.
    Hope this help..
    Cheers,

    Joopsg,

Could you elaborate about the colouration of rummy nose in relation to water condition? Gan was explaining to me but wasn't paying attention because I was eyeing on the fishes.

Anyway, I'm planning to keep rummy nose just for the purpose of monitoring water condition. Also, I plan to keep certain plants to monitor the nutrients level in my planted tank. Can't remember the plants now so need to do research again.

    Thanks,
    Roy

    About the coloration of rummynose.
It is known taht rummy nose will lose its redness once the water is not suitable for rearing them. They are often use to keep with fishes which are very sensitive to ammonia and nitrate. They act as markers to their owner as when the water should be change.
    Cheers,
