    Haiyah, you all young people like to rush-rush, wait a few days more also never mind right.

    <snip>
    Another thing against puffers: once your snails all got eaten up by puffers, what do you think the puffers will go for next? I've heard soooo many complaints about puffers attacking other fish, eating the tails etc. Some more puffers not very cute (unless you kacau them and make them puff up to look like balloon.)

    Haha Mrs Budak... you very old meh.... next time I look closely see how many wrinkles...

    As for puffers, I do think they are cute, perhaps not as lively as loaches, but I love the way they glide from spot to spot... my puffer seems quite happy in the tank, and none of my fish or shrimp which include gourami, cardinals, and congo tetras seem the least affected.

    As for loaches, yes they are fun creatures. And I do enjoy the pakistani loaches I have. The only downside is that they supposedly burrow (though I have not seen this myself).

    Blades,

    the dwarf chain loach can be bought from QH... but it is quite ex... $3 for a really tiny 0.5 inch baby. Just got about 10 of them for Simon and Sherwin so its definitely in stock. But you have to get them from the Q-teen area. Not sure if that is normally open to public? If not you can get Akoh to help.

    Rams have varied personalities....so it depends on your luck... and mostly while they are timid and will not bother most fishes, some will go on a rampage and destroy most of everything...I've also seen them go after shrimps with gutso....

    Thank you all for the suggestions and advice. Have decided to buy a single very small puffer to patrol my tank. observed it for about 3 hours and looks like it does not actively chase fishes or shrimp. I really hope the fellow stay that way and be best of frens with the rest of its tank-mates. wish me luck!

    eprouve,

    its no wonder your shrimps died... the figure 8 puffer is NOT the right puffer... that is a very aggressive and lethal puffer... you should be looking at the pygmy puffers... I believe there is a small pic used as an avatar available.
    ----------------

    Yup... that's the one I got after the figure 8 was given away... but i still faced the problem leh. I really like the puffer ad the way it hovers and glides around. So fun to watch... but it really turns my smile to a nasty frown when they start going for my fish. sigh. Perhaps I should get one of those clear plastic breeding cage or barracks to put the puffer in without giving it a chance at crunching up the shrimps eh?

    i'm also using a mini puffer(yellow) in my 4 ft tank and it's able to coexist with my fishes and shrimp with no problem at all. My tank is also snail free because of the puffer.

    My puffers are well behaved so far used to be nibbers too but when my tank ran out of snails, my remedy for them to stop nibbing is to feed them.

    Just sharing

    Hi there Blade,

    I feed my puffers what ever I feed my fishes, it includes a ocassional blood worms, brine shrimp and everyday fish niblets.

    Anyway since my lamp/blue eyes have been breeding my puffers seem to be hovering the ground for eggs.
