This tank is about 3 months old.

    Setup:
    1x tank (L17cm x B11cm x H15cm)
    1x gex soil (approx. 300ml) & water

    What's inside:
    1x plantation of hairgrass
    xx Cherry Shrimps

Easiest setup which requires only top up now and then.

Nice lush growth of hairgrass. May I suggest putting a small rock in the middle as a focal point.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've just tried putting the rock in, but it's looks awkward to me.

    No mosquitos, yet.
Employed a venus flytrap in my vivarium to attract insects.

7W, switched on prolly once a week, to prevent algae.
Anyway, tank is 1m away from window.

Yep, a vivarium, photos in vivarium section.
I'm thinking of setting up more similar tanks too! haha
I believe gex soil made the difference.
    I swear by it now.

Perhaps it is getting lighting from the window? Nice field of HG you got there...

Lights on once a week ? are you kidding ? seems its not the clip on doing the work but the sunlight from the window enticing the HG to flourish.

Definitely the sunlight, the window is unblocked and I noticed the side nearer to the window is growing slightly taller.
However, there is no direct sunlight contact.
The lamp was only purchased about 2-3 weeks ago.
I feel that the lamp is too warm for the shrimplets.

I notice the HG is not spreading much as you can see the rooting is not spreading alot, most of them is the original position when you planted them, and it is growing upwards and thicker only, is not spreading i believe. I do agree Gex soil is pretty good with HG, my HG is having a very good spread on my tank also, not only HG but also Glosso. Minimum sunlight is better than man made light if you can control the light passing through the tank.
