A power failure happened yesterday... and my AC/DC air pump fail.

Therefore, posting this thread to remind all bros that it is a wise choice to get a AC/DC but do remember to test out for the battery to see it is still alive.

Out of 200 CRS of good grades CRS, i am left with only 20-30 pieces. Surviving are mainly the younger ones. It is extremely painful when netting up the dead shrimps, and esp when you though you caught up up, you found that there is another one under the driftwood....
Luckily I have also standby a pail of dechlorinated water for the water change. The water was real bad with the dead bacteria.

Actually, I am not sure if it is the oxygen level or the heat(chiller stopped as well) that killed the CRS as I was so sad that I did not look at my thermometer.
So bros, although I may be dishearten, but I am not going to give up on CRS. Treat my disaster as a reminder and happy shrimping!

Sorry to hear that, CRS is difficult because of the temperature it needs for us here. My friend had a more than 300pc died because filter airlocked. So chiller became redundant and the system crash. He was quite heart broken because the investment was quite big and he had big plans.

Another guy uses his study with A/C on 24 hours to keep the CRS alive. It can withstand 6 hour+ blackout last time because he kept the water temp at 21ºC plus he has large 4ft tanks that could keep the temp low. Plus the whole room is cold!

Connect the air pump to a UPS. At least it will last you for several hrs or maybe a day depends on your UPS size. This will keep the water oxygented and prevent major casualty.

Was about to say that. UPS is a must for your precious little investments.

There's different capacity available for UPS, eg 420va, 500va, 600va, 1500va, etc... so it depends on the capacity of UPS divided by the electrical load that you are having...
