Hi guys, need some help here... I recently got an extremely large driftwood which has a good part of it sticking out from the water level. It's been in the tank for a week now, and I realised that there are little white insects crawling in and out of the wood. Look like termites, but don't think that they are. Any bros have this problem before? Any advise on how i can get rid of these...? Thanks!!

I had these too. I found that mine hovered around the water level on my internal filter. When i did a water change after water level got lower they would fall in when i filled it up past where it was before. They'd soon get out and hang around on my filter again. They looked unsightly from the top, but they do no harm.

As for getting rid of them i'm unsure. Boiling them sounds good ha.

I always boil my wood before introducing it into my tank, thus no such incidents or most likely I killed them during the process of treating the wood.

I'm not too sure whether does it swim. If not & its too much of a bother to take the wood out, why not leave them right smack in the middle of the tank on an 'island' of their own. They would be snacks for your fish. If they do swim.... you've to be fast to boil them as their reproduction rate is quite awesome and would invade your home furniture.

    Nooooooo, leave poisons well alone!

Perhaps the bath? A few hours in the bath should do the trick, assuming it fits. If not, then that truely is BIG wood
