Hi all fish fans...

I'm planning on getting a 24"x12"x10" tank made from my table top glass but it's 8mm thick. I'm wondering if it'll be too thick?

Anyhoo, I wanna start a simple tropical tank, nothing too spiffy, but colourful and relaxing enough. I travel for work so will probably be able to tend to the tank at least once a week, if not once every 2weeks!

Is that ok? Any suggestions on which shop to drop by for a chat and any thoughts on where I should start? I'm trying my best to learn the nitrogen cycle etc,

Any help would be much appreciated!

Firstly, welcome to AQ

8mm glass for the tank is okay, most tanks will need about once a week to 2 weeks waterchange and trimming, go low low maintenance plants such as java ferns and nanas if you want it easy and progress to more demanding plants when you are more ready. I see your locality is in Malaysia, don't know much about the shops there.

Many thanks for the info. I'm worried about overloading the tank but I see that discipline is a must especially to let it slowly grow! I've dropped by Sam's at Marine Parade to have a look and it looks very addictive! Haha!

Drop by Nature Aquarium opposite Thomson Medical Centre if you can, other good shops, C328, Y618, PetMart and Biotope just to name a few.
