the white seams seem to indicate male
Hi betta gurus and experts,
Pls help to identify the sex of this wild betta channoides. My memory must be playing afool of me, I always remembered that this is a female betta that survived. But looking at the appearance, i think otherwise.
What do you think?
the white seams seem to indicate male
yeah, that's why i also think this is a male. Anyone else got different opinion ?
Did you try letting it flare with a mirror? The colour might be more intense and you can find out if its a male or female.
Fish too dark to verify. Got any normal colour dress photo?
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way
I tried placing mirror inside tank, but it just stared at the mirror and didn't flare. Only male will flare?
The color of the pics matched the normal color of the fish.
Any physical feature ( except color) that will distinguish between the male & female?
Can compare with these pictures from rva.jp

. haha, really headache!
Too bland to be a male. More photos please.
ZaZ, thanks. Think I'm more confident that it is a female betta.
- body got horizontal band, unlike male which has even color spread
- stomach area got white bulging, seems like ovaries
- dont flare, the other fish that die more agressive and flared.
Also, found 1 thread in other forum having the almost same female as mine

Hopefully its a female.
it looks like a female to me, the white seam is not large enough to look like a male
