According to a friend he says
its not good to buy it cuz the chiller
is under powered and will end
up running most of the time
but for Planted tanks ( correct mi if i'm wrong )
is optimal is frm 25~27 degrees if my menory serves
    mi
i'm not greedy but just think i would need
26 degrees or so for my current tank

I think most of the people using chillers would prefer to use a chiller that is over rated for their tank size (e.g 1200 L capacity for a 400 L tank). This ensure that the compressor is not subjected to excessive wear and tear due to frequent or constant usage. A larger chiller can also cool a tank much faster and efficiently. Also, since the chiller is turned on less often there is less heat and noise produced. 25 to 27 degrees would be the common temperature setting on the chiller for a planted aquaria.

At the least, a chiller should be of equal capacity of your tank, definitely not under rated/powered.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

If you got to Teco's website, they have charts that help you identify which chiller is suitable for your tank. For planted tanks, they recommend using the model one up from the one you derive from the chart.

This is because most chillers are rated for a 'normal' fish-only tank that has minimal lights whereas planted and marine tanks tend to have much more lights and heat up faster.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

For the chiller you mentioned is under power. Should get one model up like the 380. Price around 1.5-1.6K. But if you don't mind to get a used chiller, do let me know. I selling my 4 mth old chiller, suitable for 4ft tank. Buy at 1350/- and letting go at low price, below 1K. Can PM me for discuss.
