Need advice from those who've been to NA. I saw a couple of small yellow fish (streamlined body like that of SAE but smaller and even more agile) in the display tank grazing away. I asked the old uncle and he said they are 'hair algae killer' fish. He told me that stock ran really fast for these fish and 'people buy them in tens and twenties'. I asked for the remaining two in the display tank and he said very hard to catch them already.

Has anyone gotten this fish? Care to share its temperament and effectiveness? Can anyone advised what's the actual and scientific name for this fish? Hope I've posted in the correct section here.

I don't think its a Chinese Algae Eater, at least it does not have a sucker-like mouth. Just need someone who has bought it to confirm. Maybe a picture to post here would be good. I'm trying to find out when the next stock arrives. Will keep it posted here.

It could also be this. But this fellow doesn't eat algae.

Don't get "conned" like me. I would say Uncle has very limited knowledge on fishes . Or may be he acts blur....

Do research on your own before buying any fishes from any LFS. That's the safest bet.

I got 5 of them in my tank. They don't eat algae as far as i can see but they're pretty cute and don't cause trouble.
