yeah seen that before but usually doesn't last long, eaten by my fishes![]()

I notice that thick clumps of moss, when disturbed, tends to have little organisms darting out. The long roots of floating water plants, ie frogbit, also tend to house little worms.
Do anyone else have similar sightings? Are there any particular water plants that encourages the breeding of micro-organisms that are food to fishes?
Cheers,
Andrew

From what I know java moss seems to have this quality.
The Apisto guys use these to supplement the fry feeding.
I've seen fry peck at the moss and can only assume there are living things that they feed on.
Probably the same analogy for the roots of floating plants and other mosses.

I have a full moss of taiwan mosses but havent seen them before though. Same goes for small worms. Havent had them for quite some time after introducing 2 boraras for my tank.
When i had shrimps initially, i did noticed my cherries scouring the mosses, but do not know if they are feeding on micros or the mosses itself.
Humm... this is interesting. I have not seen it myself. When my shrimps are lazing about on my moss, I always thought they're savaging for left over food.

I bought the mosses initially because i have read they foster good micro organism to my shrimps.
