    The fish were just added today
    let me recall to the best of my ability

    A small school of harlequins
    A pair of Betta Pugnax
    A clown loach
    2 Croaking Gouramis
    SAE

    here's the image...

    i'll let Kristen explain on the set up hardware when she logs in.

    More like tank-madness at the expense of the school and also for a good cause ^^ Many didn't even know there were such fish in Singapore. It's all to showcase local flora and fauna to the kids - except the corner where my Vallis melted and exposed the horrid saw-ed off end of my wood o-0; Going to add a few Yamato Shrimp and a school of glass fish or catfish. I also enjoy being up to my elbows in fish water during recess ^^

    Caca is my tank QC Officer. He conducts periodic checks on the tank and points out the various dieing flora so I can go yank it out before anyone sees it and finds out I am a tank n00b :/ He's so kind.

    CACA!! you post! zomg!! I demand to see your tanks! Especially the hairgrass acid bath.

    Very impressive! The forground in the centre portion seems bare. Was it left that way intentionally?

    Cheers,
    I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    the clown loach still seems rather timid.

    Cheers,
    Yes. And no. It was left bare because I decided that I had no idea what to stick there.

    Plus, I think the tank needs a bit of empty space? Sadly, there are no aquatic plants indigenous to Singapore/South East Asia that form carpets - I could be wrong. If anyone knows of one, do tell me so I can fail miserably at it just like my hairgrass that isn't hairy ;-;

    Because they are social creatures and do better in groups. The recommended minimum is actually 5.

    However, I wouldn't recommend 5 for a tank this size. Probably add 2 more if possible. Otherwise, you will lose out on a lot of interesting social interaction of this fish.

    You can cover the foreground with C.Parva. It doesn't really carpet, but it stays small. The wood is kind of nekkid, some moss might help.

    The humanity!! Okay, betta pugnax is one very scary fish o-0; I put in some ghost shrimp as part of my clean up crew. It was nice to see them zip down to the plants. When suddenly, like the kraken from POTC3, pugnax rose from the crypts and bit the head off one of the shrimp. Pugnax's mate, Pugnaxia, also emerged and promptly gobbled a glassfin.

    Oh well. I fished out the remaining shrimp and put them in my class tank with more sedate tankmates while the glassfin will remain as part of the children's lesson on natural selection.

    C parva looks really good, but it's a little sparse for a foreground plant. I think I might add a tiger lotus very soon to the place where the vallis is in front of the wood. Any other suggestions? Strangely this site says hairgrass is part of a South East Asian Biotope when it doesn't even come from this region. Why... why does it lie to me ;_;
