I tried the full range of the liberty filters & i'm not really impressed with their hang-on filters. Seriously they're not very noisy if your water volume covers the outlet of the filter. You might want to check the rotor area if anything stuck.

There should be a light humming sound not a loud gurgling one.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!

hmmm to describe the noise, humming sound can be heard from 3-4 metres away. not the usual eheim standard where you have to put your ear to the filter then you can hear the humming sound.

3-4 metres is pretty loud, you might want to bring it back to the shop for a check. It should be pretty quiet. There might be air bubbles trap inside, try removing the suction area just run the motor. If it makes the same noise, it could be the rotor.

That i can't help maybe a slightly dented gear. Hope you will be able to rectify your problem soonest.

hey thanks bro for the advice!!!

it's been awhile since i use this liberty. so i was wondering maybe it was just air bubbles at first. but it's been like that for like 5hrs already.

may i know wat you mean when you said "try removing the suction area just run the motor." ?

    thanks again.

The suction tube is a black long pipe. Remove it. The bottom part goes into the filter as it is partly covering the rotor. Fill the filter with water & turn it on. See how it goes.

I believe it could be the rotor thats churning all the noise. There are not many parts in the liberty series, a few trial & error here and there might be able to know what went wrong.

As i've mentioned, i'm not leaning towards the liberty series filter if i'm looking for a hang on.

    Cheers!

Maybe it is the impeller causing the noise? I have got one...seems to be better than the rest of the other hang over filters

I'm using a Liberty for my 1ft and it's completely silence by my standard... unless you really stick your ear to the filter, no sound can be heard.

I would recommend you to perform some simple tests of the various part (not many) and if it's still emitting the noise then bring back to the LFS.

1 point to note... you need to fill the filter channel with water before running the filter. And what's the height of your water in respect to the filter inlet... the water level in the tank needs to be al least close (<5mm) form the outlet for the filter to work properly.
