yup, u simply buy them emersed and plant them, it takes some time before they fully transform into their submersed form. but if u can find submersed, then do not bother with the emersed form, some grow out to be very different and worse, some even shed/melt (depending on species)

don't worry about the submersed/emersed thing
if they will grow at all, they definitely will make the transition from land to water
just plant them the same way

NA selling the 3ft 2×55W PL lamps, very nice looking. You need a lot more than 2×27W. Also I just saw they have the JBL base fert in stock yesterday, many many packets.

    thanks hwchoy..

but wah.. isn't 2x55w PL a lot of light if u include the 2x27 that i already have?

should i add base fert or not? i have added the gravel in the tank already leh... intend to use root monster...
it's achievable right? to maintain a good planted tank without base fert... but with careful dosing

well, if you are planting high light plants, or glosso, hairgrass, etc. You might do well with that 164W (54+110). Your tank is about 48G so that gives you only around 3.4W/G. Alternatively can try the 3ft 2×36W (same housing as the 110W but with shorter 36W tubes.

There is an alternative to root monster which is Ista fertilizer ball. S$20 for 20 balls at C328.
