Higher wattage in fluorescent lighting

Hiz,
as we saw most commonly all the wattage in fluorescent bulb depend on the length of the bulb itself. Such as 18"---15watt ; 24"---20watt and so on. Where can i find those High Output(HO)bulb that can produce a higher voltage in a similar length. I saw this info from aquabotanic newletter. Cos i would like to increase the wattage but i already have two FL housing and dun wan to spend on PL housing or modify. Does anyone of u noe where to find it ? or can provide more info ? the ballast have to change also rite ? If anyone wan the newletter to understand what i say, i can email to u. Thankz

I'm not sure HO lamps are readily available in singapore... in addition you are right that the ballast needs to be upgraded to handle the output. In addition, more light means more heat, so you might have to add fans to handle this... All in all, it means that HO could be quite a costlly alternative to using normal FL/PL. If you really need HO, then consider MH, its become quite a economically viable alternative, i.e. it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg (mebbe a few fingers).

Can consider PL lights (Compact Flourescent). From the charts at http://www.ahsupply.com/bulbs.htm, the lengths/wattage are:

16.5" = 36W
21" = 55W

The tubes can be bought at Nature Aquarium if you need.
