did a 30am cube for some shrimps

low tech no co2 just a gex hangon filter and a 11w arcadia lamp and tiny fan cause it tank was hovering at 30˚c which i thought was kinda warm for shrimps but the fan only brought temp down to 28. well see how it goes... comments pls... first time setting up shrimp only tank.

background plant not sure of ID but forground is the typical jap hairgrass... thats what the lfs said it was...

how do you differentiate jap and local SEA hairgrass?

Does the blackground plant's leaves have serrated margins? If they do, i think they ight be Limnophila aromatica. There are a few plants which look like that though, so not 100% sure.

Japanese hairgrass leaves tend to curl downwards in high light, while regular hairgrass leaves do not

I'm no expert but I think that is normal dwarf HG. o.o I think jap hairgrass grows out and curls downward like a little star. It's also much smaller than dwarf HG. I love your scape! Very simple and elegant and has this awesome forest/cave look.

You might want to push the rock down into the substrate though, as it looks weird sitting on top of it - disjointed from the landscape almost.

Fishsoup, no it does not have serrated margins. But Limnophila aromatica is a good looking plant and will keep a lookout for it.

Kristen, thanks will push the rock in and it should look better after.

You are using the original arcadia PL tube right? Looks pinkish. I changed mine with Osram 6500K to get more realistic spectrum. How about adding another piece of much smaller lava rock somewhere on the right front corner among the hairgrass? This will make the main rock less lonely.
