Simon thats because we use 100% bleach while they mix it with water. I still don't understand the mix in water. They're glass thought it should be alright to just dump it in?

I once had green bleach water after soaking 3 ADA pollen.
    Cheers!

I too mixed the bleach with at least 75% water. My only concern is the bleach trapped in the ceramic that will leech into the tank, that is why I soak them in anti-chlorine

So i'm the odd one out using it straight out of the green bottle! Thats my worry too but i think it should be alright after a good flush of water & a dose of anti-cholorine.

    Cheers!

Ive read earlier that the last dip in an anti chloride solution removes all traces of bleach. Of course warm water after the dip does breaks down the bleach further. I am playing safe with 2x seachem prime solution dip [2ml for 300ML] overnight before introducing back into the tank. Kiasu ?

By the way, soak in 3 hours is "over doing it" is it? , though im quite glad my diffusors were in near new condition after cleaning, even the glass was sparkling.

Just want to point out that the measures taken to make the diffuser safe varies according to tank volume as well.

agree, i have a nano, so im usually less skeptical to putting in the bleached diffusor even after soaking in dechlorinated water for 30mins. I guess 2 days soak should be a safer bet.

Just to share my experience. I bought those on-the-floor bottle bleach solution from provision shop to clean ADA 50mm pollen. I soaked till it turned all white. I then poured vinegar to neutralise the 'slippery effect' from our fingers and pollen. It works wonder.

I think those bought on the floor bleach solution are those mentioned as generic ones? Thats a good tip using vinegar to counter the soapy feeling.

    Thanks for sharing!

Yes, those generic bleach solution is good enough to do the job well. Also take note to use only colorless vinegar, not the dark brown type. The smell maybe unbearable for a while after the use of vinegar. That I mean our fingers.

Has anybody tried using hydrogen peroxide? I mean using it 100% without mixing with water.

ive wanted to use h202, but its quite expensive. clorox as recommended by some bros here cost around 3.95 for a 4L, on the other hand, hydrogen peroxide from guardian cost 3.50 per 150ml....

I used 1 part bleach with 9 parts water. Less then 2 hours the disk turned white. I think powder bleach is not tht powerful. Kao Liquid type bleach is better. After that use 1 part of anti chlorine with 9 part of water and soak till you think it's alright. For me all depend on estimation

Seems to me like no one has used H2O2 cause if it works just as well than might as well use it (cost aside) since you don't have to go through the trouble of washing and cleaning the diffuser after it is socked with bleach. Can be quite a hassle.

2 hours ?!?? It took me not more than an hour to put back the diffusor after soaking in bleach.
I soak the diffusor for 15 mins, but using exactly the reverse of your mix, ie. 9 parts bleach and 1 part water (you could see the diffusor turns clear in less than 10 mins).
Another 30 ~ 45 mins of soaking in anti-chlorine solution (i did flush it with water and vinegar first to get rid of slippery feel).

    Good as new

    tpt,
hydrogen peroxide is effective as well as but i personally find it too expensive. Im using clorox brand with 50/50 bleach+water in a small 300ml cup for soaking.

    Guys,
Dont worry too much about the designated time to soak, as each tank is different. Mine is a nano, in additional im also "kiasu"...thus the longer timeframe. I have recently aquire another arista diffusor from c328, so i can clean one for 1 week and drop in the spare and repeat bi monthly or so.

Nicholas if you are really scare of tank contamination, you can use phyton git, it works the same but much higher a cost. Just squeeze a few drops of it onto the ceramic & the algae should turn red in no time.

    Cheers!
