Been cycling for close to 3 months now. No co2, going to try sulawesi shrimps in them again. It seems not many people are still into them anymore.

    Hopefully it will work better.

I have tried with bare tank with mostly rocks but the mortality rate was high perhaps a heavily planted tank might work.

PH is close to 8 and the TDS is 250.

Cycling close to 3 months? That should be really good. Let us know the results, say 2 months after introducing them in your tank, yeah?

Psst, how did you keep the pH that high? I see some soil(?) in there, which supposedly makes the water acidic.

    The tank is the standard 60 X 30 X 36. 2 feet.

Have coral chips in one compartment of the filter, this keep the ph up.

Previously I used marine sand and rocks only for the set up and kept the sula shrimps. Didnt work.
After 3 mth of the 30 I introduce left 3 surviving. So I thought I would use a different approach.
Let's hope this time result will be better.
By the way, heard that the shrimps supply is dwindling.. wonder if its true.

Your tank looks really good and with great pH parameters. Becareful of the anubias and crypts though.

    Nice setup. Plants looked healthy.

I notice you keeping some Furcata Rainbow. Are they easy to keep?
How's their temperament? Any suggested number for a 1 ft cube I am keeping?

No fan and chiller, ambient temp arnd 26 to 29, 26 with the aircon on.

They are relatively easy to keep, but I think they are very active and greedy fish and need ample swimming room. I have 4 in a 2 feet, 3 female and a lone male.
They are the survivor of 10 which I bought and placed in a 1.5 feet tank.
Guess for 1 feet I wouldnt go above 6. BTW they can get really large, I have seen some male which are more than 3 inches TL.

Didn't hear anything, but if it is true, I wouldn't be surprised. Seems like the number of offsprings from breeding is pretty low, haven't heard of anyone breeding them successfully in the masses.

    Good luck.

They are difficult to breed, most breeding reports come from female carrying eggs when they are caught.
Each brood number no more than 15. So guess they aren't really prolific. a pity such nice shrimps are so difficult to keep.

Thanks troyz, so do you have any projects coming along? Post them and we can exchange pointers.

Here are some of the inhabitants, they are very difficult to spot in the tanks!

    Baby Sulawesi snails, they reproduce!

Very nice setup. A friend give me a very nice 1.5ft Japan make tank with curve front and build in overflow ISO behind. It should be a marine tank as the cover was fit with 2 blue/white PL light, 2 dark blue LED and fan. I am very "shua gu", still try to figure out how the ISO system work. May like to try on plants and shrimps tank if got time. Need advice from brothers and sisters here when the project start. Thanks.

More inhabitants of the tank, went to the supplier and just asked him to give me assorted sula shrimps, now the wait, see if they will all survive long term.

Don;t think this is spongicola, It should be another sp, heard from supplier these are not found with the sponges. Anyone can confirm?

At the moment no Caridinal white spot, if all esle fails then perhaps will add it into the tank.
