Y618 still have zebra, $15 a pop.
Before i got my nerites, i was actually considering normal ottos, but they came across as very sensitive and has high mortality rate. Zebra/tiger are even harder to maintain, you guys must be quite confident spending $$ to keep them.
Unfortunately i'm less confident. If not i would have bought 1-2 pieces as well.
Went to C328 at 8pm today and not a single Tiger Otto left. I already bought 5 of the 1st batch of zebras from C328 and 5 more zebras from Y618. All doing well so far probabaly because there's a lot of algae to eat. I wants me some tigers!
i'm still torn whether or not to try out tigers![]()
Those ottos mention require more algae then the normal ottos & a totally different set of water condition. They look pretty but they're not easy to keep for long. I once had 10 zebras all went up to heaven.
Cheers!

there are all over the place, take your time, no hurry, the hurrier you do, you compromise with not so good ones..
i've managed to successfully keep zebra otos in moderately acidic/soft water conditions, similar to normal otos. tiger otos may be the ones that need different water conditions?
I would classify tiger otos on a scale of 1 (easy) to 5 (difficult) as 4 or 5 as of now. I have yet to hear of anyone keeping them alive for more than 6 months, on average is about 3 months or so.
This is probably due to unknown husbandry requirements of the fish, and not helped that it is yet to be described scientifically. So if you do not mind the possibility of something that may be short lived, then try by all means.
Do a search on Parotocinclus sp. "Peru", read through the posts and perhaps you may develop some newly educated ideas on the husbandry.
My personal educated guess would be: species only tank, good and clean, very well oxygenated water, lots of algae, some soft wood and temperature no higher than 28 degrees Celcius.
Quix, could you classify zebra ottos on a scale too?![]()
got 5 zebra otos... recently, some thin, some fat
they (the thinner ones) are fattening up whereas the fat ones remain fat, keep them with small wild bettas in acidic water and cooler water, whihc i think they love it; also, they love cucumber.... saw all their tummies... big big...
they keep on munching on it...
read somewhere, " a fat oto is a happy oto"... guess it's true...
guess i miss the tiger otos... have to wait...

Hi..
I just checked with Uncle and he told me there isn't any tiger otto coming in at all all this while but only zebra.. Somemore he sounded very confident about it.. By the way.. Can someone else who has seen the tiger ottos rectify whether Tiger really did came into C328 or be it our shore?
Thanks

FYI, the labels on the tanks may not necessarily corresponds to the fish. Uncle sometimes do not remove the label even though there are no stocks of the fish. I think that the "tiger oto" label has been on the tank since like ages ago.
Got a few oto tigers (abt 8-10, in batches) when c328 had them earlier this year, but none of them survived beyond a week.
IIRC the list price was also S$15, but I suggested S$10 and uncle agreed.
Only left with 2 photos of the beautiful fish.
