No worries, it should bare the load. Your tank glass seem to look thin. Most of our planted tank thickness are about 10mm .
Cheers!
Hi,
I am interested to change my current bogwood scape to rockscape.
but i would like to ask:
is it safe to put (10-15kg) of rock+exisitng 2inch lapis sand on a 3feet tank, thickness i think is standard since i did not customize it.
Tank stand is those steel frame kind like
will the glass tank be able to take the load? i am scared it will crack
also will the stand be sturdy enough.
Any hobbyist with experience using rockscape on such tank equipment, please advise.
thanks

Why don't you put something under the rock to spread the weight?
dont worry about iron stands they are quite strong. However, i am noticing rust build up at the bottom.
torque: yeah..there are some rust here and there. but i have painted over them.
Shadow: i have 2 layers of styrofoam beneath my tank. is that counted?
benetay: i have not measure my glass thickness. but 10mm...hmm..i doubt my tank is that thick.

I was talking about something inside the tank. Those white plasting chopping board for example or those egg crate. I believe there was discusion on this not long ago.
As for the foam under the tank, I ussually put piece of wood, follow by foam and then tank. It is because my tank rack top is only couple of horisontal metal rod, so it might create lots of pressure at that contact point.
will the glass break if the weight from the rock is too heavy?
